Psychology, Law, Social Work, Economics and Teaching in Australia for Indian Students: Courses and Fees

Psychology is the most widely taught subject on this site after IT: all but one of our nineteen universities offer it. Law (fifteen), social work (thirteen), economics and teaching (ten each) follow. Several of these lead to registered professions with their own rules for overseas graduates.

Professional courses and general degrees

Psychology, social work, teaching and law are professional courses: accreditation decides whether you can work in the profession. Economics, international relations, communication and journalism are general degrees that lead to policy, research, media and corporate jobs. Fees are lower than in engineering or health, with several master's under A$45,000 a year.

Is social work a good course in Australia for Indians?
Social work is taught at thirteen universities on this site, often as a two-year qualifying master's for graduates, and accredited courses lead to membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Can I become a teacher in Australia?
With an accredited initial teacher education course, usually a two-year Master of Teaching after a degree. AITSL assesses teachers for migration.
How much does a social science degree cost?
Bachelor's A$31,000–64,000 a year; master's A$30,000–64,800, with Newcastle's social work master's at the low end and Sydney at the top.
