Questions from Indian students: Fees in Australia

What is the cheapest university in Australia for Indian students?
Among those we checked, Charles Darwin University (bachelor's from A$31,208, IT master's A$36,440 a year), the University of Tasmania (master's from A$27,338), James Cook and Federation. With their automatic scholarships of 25–30%, a master's at these universities costs ₹17–22 lakh a year.
How much is a master's in Australia in rupees?
About ₹24–31 lakh a year at regional universities, ₹31–39 lakh at technology universities and ₹37–45 lakh at the Group of Eight, before scholarships and living costs. Most master's for Indian graduates take two years, which is also what the 485 visa requires.
Do Australian universities raise fees every year?
Usually. RMIT says it may raise fees by up to 7.5% each calendar year; UTS calls its future-year fees estimates. Budget a few percent more for every year after the first.
When do I pay tuition for Australia?
Before the visa. Most universities ask for the first semester's tuition, or a deposit, before they issue the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), and you need the CoE to lodge the student visa.
Are there extra fees beyond tuition?
Yes: the Student Services and Amenities Fee at most universities, Overseas Student Health Cover for the whole visa, the A$2,500 visa charge, application fees of A$0–150, and course costs such as equipment or placements.
