A six-year budget
Tuition of A$104,000 a year on average, living costs of A$30,000 and health cover give about A$135,000 a year, or ₹90 lakh. Six years comes to about ₹5.4 crore before any fee increases. Education loans of this size need collateral; SBI's Global Ed-Vantage lends up to ₹3 crore. See education loans.
Costs beyond tuition
Medical students pay for admission tests before they apply (UCAT ANZ A$405 outside Australia, ISAT A$435, GAMSAT A$568), then for clinical placements away from the main campus, vaccinations, police and working-with-children checks, equipment and, in the later years, travel to rural hospitals. Overseas Student Health Cover must run for the whole programme. Living costs also rise in clinical years, when placements make part-time work hard to fit in. Families should plan on the higher end of every estimate and treat the first-year figure only as the start of a six-year commitment.
