Why Indian students choose Swinburne
Swinburne is built around technology and industry: its courses carry professional accreditation, such as the Australian Computer Society for IT, data and cyber security, and its campus at Hawthorn sits in a leafy inner suburb on the Glen Waverley line. Indian students come mostly for IT, data science, engineering and business master's priced a little below RMIT for several subjects and well below Monash and Melbourne. Swinburne also runs one of Australia's few aviation degrees with pilot training.

Swinburne's own Postgraduate Qualifying Program (A$17,570, six months) bridges graduates into master's they could not enter directly.
Regional status for the 485: Category 1, no bonus
Hawthorn is in metropolitan Melbourne, Category 1: the Indian 485 after a Swinburne master's is three years, with no regional second visa.
Pathway
Swinburne teaches its pathways itself: the Foundation Program (eight months, A$33,040), UniLink bridging and diplomas, and ELICOS at A$550 a week, with an ELICOS+ scholarship that refunds up to ten weeks of English fees to students who go on to a degree. See pathway colleges.
Our assessment
A strong Melbourne alternative for technology students who want accredited courses and automatic scholarships without Go8 fees. Compare the same master's at RMIT and check which award applies to your grades.
