Why UTS appeals to Indian students

UTS is built for practice. Its degrees put industry projects and internships into the timetable, and its campus sits beside the Ultimo technology and media district and a short walk from Central station. For an Indian student aiming at software, data, engineering or design jobs in Sydney, it costs less than the two Go8 universities in the city and asks for a CBSE profile without the very high cut-offs of Commerce at Sydney or UNSW.

UTS assesses CBSE on English or Hindi plus your best four other subjects, ISC on the best four, and accepts some state boards with a competitive pass.

Fees in rupees

A UTS master's year at ₹35 lakh (A$52,740) is about ₹35.3 lakh; with the 15% South Asia scholarship, about ₹30 lakh. Our fee rows double the official per-session figure from the UTS fee calculator, which UTS describes as an estimate for future years.

Regional status for the 485: Category 1, no bonus

Broadway is in central Sydney, a Category 1 city, so UTS graduates follow the standard Indian rules: two years after a bachelor's, three after a master's.

Pathway

UTS College runs foundation and diploma programmes into UTS degrees. Its Standard foundation costs ₹23 lakh (A$34,500) for 2027 and accepts Indian Class 11 results at 65%. See pathway colleges.

Our assessment

A sensible Sydney choice for IT, engineering and data: lower fees than the Go8, an automatic South Asia award and a campus next to the jobs. Compare the Master of IT with RMIT in Melbourne, which costs about A$10,000 a year less.

Questions from Indian students: UTS

How much does UTS cost for Indian students?
UTS publishes a fee per 24-credit-point session; a full-time year is two sessions. On that basis an engineering honours year costs about A$57,240, the Master of Information Technology A$57,870 and the Master of Data Science and Innovation A$52,740.
Does UTS have a scholarship for Indian students?
The UTS Academic Merit International Scholarship – South Asia gives 15% off tuition for the standard length of the course, for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework. It is assessed automatically unless the listing says otherwise. The Academic Excellence International Scholarship (30%) and the Vice-Chancellor's scholarships (full tuition) are competitive.
What IELTS does UTS ask for?
IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing for most courses (TOEFL iBT 79 with writing 21; PTE 58 with writing 50). Nursing and midwifery need 7.0, and combined teaching degrees 7.5. Scores must be less than two years old.
Can I do a UTS Master of IT with a non-IT degree?
Yes. A bachelor's in any field with at least 75% of subjects passed, or any bachelor's plus two years of relevant full-time work, meets the entry rule.
What is the UTS application fee?
A$100, non-refundable, with every international application.
